School meals are prepared in our own kitchen. At lunchtime pupils are offered a choice of healthy nutritionally well balanced meals in accordance with the current Scottish Executive guidance, “Hungry for Success”. There is a selection of drinks, including milk, fresh fruit juice and water. Fresh fruit and salads are always available.
Menus are sent home in advance and parents and carers are invited to discuss this with their child. They should make a selection for the week ahead and then return the menu to school, along with payment. Lunches cost £1.65 and payment can be made on a weekly or daily basis. If you wish to pay by cheque please make it payable to Argyll and Bute Council.
Children may also bring packed lunches (no glass bottles please), and are supervised in the dining hall with those children taking school meals.
If any child has a particular dietary need this can be catered for.
Children of parents and carers receiving income support or income based jobseekers’ allowance or Child Tax Credit (subject to entitlement) are entitled to a free midday meal. Information and application forms for free school meals may be obtained from schools, and the area office.
Only those children whose parents and carers receive income support or income-based jobseeker’s allowance or Child Tax Credit (subject to entitlement) will be entitled to free milk. Milk is however available for purchase in the school during the lunch period, and at the morning break.
